Who are the Alfa Animales?

Every letter of the Spanish alphabet is represented by an animal who:

• begins with the letter
• has a Spanish name beginning with the letter
• forms the letter with their body
• has an ASL sign or movement

How does Alphabet Time Work?

Weeks 1 to 6 - Children get to know the animals, their motions, and sounds. 

Weeks 7 to 33 - Children will focus on one animal per week. They will be introduced to the uppercase letter, and learn the letter name.  The 5 most important pre-reading skills will be woven into every weekly lesson.

What skills are covered during Alphabet Time?

During Alphabet Time, these are the main skills your child will learn by the end of the year: 

• Identify uppercase letters
• Identify lowercase letters
• Identify letter sounds
• Recognize their own name in print
• Identify common sight words
• Identify and produces rhyming words
• Count syllables
• Blend sounds into words
• Understand basic concepts of print
